Computer Security Certifications
Computer Security Certification Program (CSCP) was founded in 1999 to confirm the skills of computer security professionals. The purpose of this program is to provide assurance that a certified person has the necessary skills and knowledge for working in major areas of computer science, information and software security. Most US companies and government agencies trust Computer Security Certificates, even the US National Security Agency (NSA).

CSCP address a range of skill sets. It includes entry level information security and board based security essentials, advanced subject areas like audit, intrusion detection, incident handling, firewalls, forensics, hacker techniques, Windows and Unix operating system security coding.

computer_security_certificationCSCP is valid for four years. In order to remain certified students need to review new course information and retake the exam every four years. There are different education and certification tracks like security, audit, management, operations, software security and legal departments.

There are no any preconditions required to begin any of the certification attempts. However, it is highly recommended to take a training course before the test. It will be useful to review various subject areas before the exam even for the highly experienced computer security professionals. There is four month access window for certification attempts. Thus candidates get sufficient time to prepare for the exam.

For signing up for the certification exam, follow the instructions below:
1. Find the site of the agency which offers to pass the exam. Go to the sign up page.
2. Complete your payment information and select which certification attempt you want to register for. After submitting the registration form you will receive an email with your order confirmation and details of your attempt process.

Consider that you cannot take exam immediately after taking a corresponding SANS training course. The exam is not available to candidates until 10 days after the corresponding training event concludes.

The is no certain order in which Computer Security Certifications should be earned, however it is recommended to master fundamentals before moving to more advanced topics.
