Logistics Certificates
9Logistician is the occupation in the logistics and transport sectors, including land, air and sea modes.
In 1946, a group of industry leaders founded a professional organization – the American Society of Transportation and Logistics (AST&L). Its main task is to insure a high level of professionalism and promote continuing education in the field of transportation and logistics. Certification Programs were launched in 1948. AST&L’s task is to facilitate education and certification in the logistics, transportation sphere and supply chain management.

AST&L conveys three kinds of certifications:
1. Certification in Transportation and Logistics (CTL). For taking the CTL exam, a person should be an active member of AST&L and have at least four year undergraduate degree or three years of professional experience. Candidate will get certification in case he succeed in six of the following exam modules:
- Compulsory subjects (four): Transportation Economics Management, International Transport and Logistics, Logistics Management and General Management Principles & Techniques;
- Elective subjects (choose 2 of them): Logistics Analysis, Supply Chain Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Strategy, Creative Component.   

2. Distinguished Logistics Professional (DLP). For getting this certification you need to get recommendations from an active AST&L member and to give it to AST&L Board of Directors. The Board decides either to grant DLP to the nominee after familiarizing with his credentials and recommendation letters.  
    
3. Professional Designation in Supply Chain Management (PLS). PLS is granted to professionals seeking an understanding of the key strategies for improving customer service and increasing the efficiency of their logistics and supply chain operations. PLS’s purpose is to find people that have completed a course o study examining the strategies for improving logistics and supply chain operations and wants to apply this knowledge within their profession. PLS exam includes multiple choices of questions.
